1970 – 1973
Walter Slemmer runs the Alpine Club hut "Plosehütte", 2,447 m, with his wife Dora. Son Peter is born in 1970, son Alex in 1973.
The Berghotel Schlemmer has been owned by the Slemmer family since 1973. We have been managing the hotel, bar, “Skihütte” après-ski lounge and restaurant with much joy and enthusiasm. Right away, you will sense that our alpine hotel is also a home. Everyone here feels like a part of a big family.
Walter Slemmer runs the Alpine Club hut "Plosehütte", 2,447 m, with his wife Dora. Son Peter is born in 1970, son Alex in 1973.
Walter and Dora Slemmer acquire the "ski hut" with eight guest rooms, which was built in 1966 by the Wiedenhofer Luis family. After many preparations and simultaneous management of the Plosehütte, Walter and Dora open their "ski hut" on 1 May 1973 with many friends and guests.
Only a few years later, the Slemmer family expands the ski hut into the "Alpengasthof Schlemmer Skihütte". The terrace is extended, as is the family's private flat.
On 23 August 1979, the bar and parts of the guest rooms fall victim to a fire.
The rooms of the Alpengasthof are being renovated: The original eight rooms will become seven, and all are now equipped with shower and WC.
Extension of the Zirmstüberl on the east side and extension of the kitchen.
Alex also runs the Plosehütte, which is leased from the Italian Alpine Club.
Major conversion in just three months (!!) from the Alpengasthof Skihütte to the "Berghotel Schlemmer***". Expansion from 8 to 27 rooms, sauna, steam bath and corresponding expansion of the bar and restaurant, kitchen and cellar areas. Construction of a small "ski hut" on the upper terrace directly at the ski lift with open-air bar for thirsty and hungry skiers.
Son Alex moves in with Sonja, followed by the wedding and birth of son Andi in 2002.
Our beloved wife, mother and mother-in-law Dora passes away all too soon, leaving a big gap in the company and in our hearts.
Walter Slemmer hands over the Berghotel Schlemmer to his sons Alex and Peter, but continues to support them in word and deed.
Son Peter marries his Zita. Tommi is born, and daughter Dora in 2005. Also in 2004, the "blue" terrace and an apartment below it are built and the snow bar is extended.
The Slemmer family recognises the signs of the times and converts the boiler room to biomass. They also install a solar system for heating and hot water.
Peter leaves the business, moves to Brixen with his family and takes over the restaurant "Boulevard".
The dining room will be expanded and supplemented with a separate area for the breakfast buffet.
Our father, father-in-law and grandpa Walter leaves us after a short serious illness. He was always there for guests and his family with help and advice. Everyone misses his helpfulness, his advice, his knowledge and his experience.
As planned with Walter for years, the "open-air snow bar" became the bar - restaurant "Skihütte" in autumn. Rustic and genuine with a cosy Tyrolean parlour and a large sun terrace and playground (open in summer). Bought in 1972 as a ski hut, it was extended in 1997 to become the Berghotel Schlemmer...so there was no other name for the extension than the original name "Skihütte". The time for the renovation was short, the time for us personally very difficult - we thank all friends, guests and craftsmen who have accompanied and encouraged us on this path.
Two rooms are converted into the new family room "Tulln". The room features 2 separate sleeping areas, a separate large shower area and furnishings in solid Swiss pine wood. In addition, the entrance area of the hotel is being renovated.
After careful consideration, we have decided to take a big step: we are expanding with the neighbouring house. This opportunity has arisen due to the move of our neighbours and thus we can now offer our guests 3 more apartments for 6-10 people each.
The hotel bar, reception and entrance area are being renovated and enlarged.
The new panorama lounge will become the centrepiece for cosy hours with a breathtaking view.
