Tracks in the snow

Explore the winter landscape on foot

A hiking holiday in the winter? You heard right! Winter hiking in South Tyrol is the latest trend. With or without snowshoes. Far from the hustle of the ski slopes, you can discover South Tyrol like you've never seen it before. Mount Plose, and especially the nearby Val di Funes, Passo delle Erbe or the Alpe di Luson, provide countless opportunities of winter hiking in South Tyrol.

Kreuztal - Rossalm

The 2.5 km winter hiking trail from Kreuztal (Valcroce) to the sunny Rossalm leads through an enchanting winter landscape. The views get better with each step you take. After a short rest, winter hikers can even ride back down on a toboggan. Tip: those who prefer an especially romantic experience can ride up to Rossalm tucked warmly into a horse-drawn sleigh!

Skihütte – Schatzerhütte

A highly-recommended route for winter hiking in South Tyrol is the one that goes from our alpine hotel to the Schatzerhütte. The route runs gently uphill through the forest to Gampenwiesen and after about one hour walk, winter hikers reach the Schatzerhütte.

Kreuztal – Schatzerhütte

Start at the mountain station of the gondola lift Kreuztal. It goes first on only slightly rising terrain towards the southeast. After a half an hour hike at a crossroads, take the path to the right towards the Skihütte. There you can expect a cozy end to your snowshoe hike at Gasthof Schlemmer.
